GLEIF confirms LEI's annual forecast
Half of the way to the first million has been completed: In the second quarter of 2017, the mark of 500,000 active Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI) was exceeded. This is in the second quarter business report of the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF).
GLEIF thus also confirmed its forecast for the full year: from the 503,000 identifying codes currently managed by the 30 LEI distributors around the world, the number is intended to rise to 551,000 by the end of the year.
The largest market for the worldwide standardized identification number is still the USA, whose share of the world 's active LEIs rose by one percent to 26 percent from the previous quarter. The five countries with the largest LEI volume thus have a combined market share of 57 percent (previously 56 percent); Their quarterly growth rate increased from 10 to 13 percent in the second quarter.
From the end of April to the end of June the number of LEIs grew by 4.4 percent. This increase resulted in an increase in the annualized growth in Europe by one percentage point to 14 percent. In the rest of the world it remains unchanged at 19 percent.
The average renewal rate in Q2 remained unchanged at 66 percent. It was the lowest in Brazil with 35 percent and the highest in Japan with 90 percent. The GLEIF expects the LEI system to have an extension rate of 73% by the end of the year.
